Q. Do I need to contact my GP before starting Chiropractic care?
It’s not necessary to contact your GP prior to visiting. Chiropractors are primary healthcare practitioners, meaning we are qualified to assess and diagnose. If you’d like us to keep your GP updated about your care, please let us know and we can arrange this.
Q. How many visits will I need?
The answer will be different for each individual, as it depends on your specific complaint, personal goals and needs. A plan of care will be discussed with you during your second visit. Many people decide to continue their visits once their pain or symptoms have subsided to ensure their body functions at its best long-term.
Q. Are adjustments painful?
Chiropractic adjustments are not usually painful, but they may feel a little strange at the beginning of your care. Many patients feel relief straight away, whilst some can feel a little uncomfortable following treatment while the body adjusts. Your Chiropractor may advise using an ice pack, performing specific stretches and drinking plenty of water to ease any discomfort and promote healing. We will explain each adjustment beforehand and take great care in ensuring you are comfortable and happy with the care you receive.
Q. Will I need an x-ray?
This depends on the nature of your case. X-rays will only be recommended when it is judged to be clinically necessary. If any need for further tests such as X-rays or MRI are indicated, this will be discussed with you and can be arranged with the appropriate referral.
Q. Am I too old for Chiropractic?
